This branch of engineering deals with the construction of buildings, bridges, dams, reservoirs and any other structure. This requires not only the knowledge of construction but also that of management of business, funds and work force. Qualification required, varies depending on the type of work required. Construction engineers have a wide range of work choice. Entry-level engineers can work in the field or in the office estimating costs and analyzing reports. Strong understanding of science and mathematics is required in a construction engineer, including logical reasoning, listening, problem solving, decision-making, good person-to-person interaction, etc.

Trainees work under experienced construction engineers before taking on any project by themselves. Their services are required in the construction of houses, industrial buildings and almost in every place where a building is being built. Government and private sectors both offer jobs in this area. Experience gives weightage to the resume when applying for such jobs.
